The Quarry opens lake’s east side to homeowners

The sugar sand beach stretches for a half-mile. On the water, people sail, water ski, canoe and kayak.

But people living in The Quarry don’t live on the Gulf of Mexico; they live 17 miles inland in Naples on a 300-acre lake.

When The Quarry first opened in 2005, it began selling homes on the west side of the lake. Now, for the first time, homesites are available on the east side. The new Pulte Homes community in The Quarry has homes with sunset views over the water.

“People are really buying lifestyle here, said Chris Cartee, field manager and head of construction.

Residents can have boat docks outside their homes. They can also rent a boat dock or keep their boat in a storage facility on site and use a boat ramp. As of now, there are 35 boat slips on the lake.

Gus Panutsos moved into a home on the west side of the lake in December 2005 and loves living in The Quarry because of the boating.

“I used to drive past that piece of property and thought, ‘Wow, boating right here in Naples,'” Panutsos said. “We love the community. We are avid golfers, too. The combination of the golfing and the boating, with the boat right off the house, is like living in a resort.”

Panutsos says The Quarry is a very vibrant community with lots to do in Naples Florida.

“What is fun is to get a gang on the boat after golf and watch the sunset from the boat. It makes for a great day,” he said.

The lake, called Stone Lake, covers 320 acres and is up to 50 feet deep.

The community, which was once a limestone quarry, also has a beach club, golf, tennis and bocce.

Paul Knapp lives in a coach home in the older section of the Quarry, and has now sold that unit and bought a homesite in the new section. He likes that the community has a younger population and many things to do.

“I enjoy the amenities and the pricing,” Knapp said. “We looked around at a lot of different communities, but we kept coming back to this one.”

Knapp said he uses the beach club frequently and plans to use the lake a lot more once he moves into his new home.

He plans to buy a boat and put in a dock at his new house.

“The view is very important,” Knapp said. “Here I will have a beautiful pool looking out over a beautiful lake.”

There are 119 new sites on the east side of the lake. Customers can choose from three different single-family home models in the new community.

There’s the 1,650-2,000 square-foot villa, the 2,000-2,700 square-foot midsize home or the 2,500-3,200 square-foot estate home. The estate home is a new product only on the east side of the lake.

There are also 1,600-2,300 square foot coach homes. Prices range from $200,000 to $1 million.

“The 300-acre recreation lake is the centerpiece of the community,” said Scott Mairn, vice president of sales and marketing for Pulte. “It’s a one-of-a-kind community in Collier County. The only other lake community is Miromar Lakes in Lee County.”
