Lee County home resales down, prices up in June

Home resales in Lee County declined in June, but prices rose.

There were 1,325 single-family home sales last month, down 12 percent from 1,501 in June 2010, according to a report by Florida Realtors, a statewide trade group.

Meanwhile, the median price for sales made last month jumped 21 percent to $117,100, down from $96,600 a year ago.

There were 407 condo sales in June, down 3 percent from 420 a year ago. The median price was $149,100, up 13 percent from $131,400 in June 2010.

The median is the price at which half the homes sell for more and half for less. Sales prices have been on the rise in Fort Myers-Cape Coral for months. In May, the median selling price was $114,900 for single-family homes. It was $143,300 for condos.
